My doctor told me there isn't an accurate fertility test?

I'm a little confused I guess. I am not trying at the moment but I'm in my 30s and wanted to get my fertility checked to ease my mind. Doctor told me those kinds of tests only work for those undergoing fertility treatments. Does anyone have any experience with this? If there is something out there for someone like me who is just curious I would like to get it done but I also don't want to offend my doctor by saying she doesn't know what she's talking about. I guess I'm just curious if anyone else has gotten themselves checked out while not undergoing any fertility treatments and if they were told if it's reliable or not?
