Hallo, I’m a little afraid and unsure on how to handle this. I fear it’s already too late to do something about it but for the first time after turning 22 I got my first official Pap smear and had been awhile since I’ve been to this gyno.
I noticed that they switched from using the metal speculums to plastic ones. And before when they would open everything they were going to use in front of me. Anyway… I noticed a plastic one was already opened and laying on the plastic prior enter the room for my exam and didn’t think anything of it at the time but after my Pap smear I was diagnosed with trich, I had bv and then received another call saying I had hpv. Since this diagnosis every time I get examined I get severe pain from the speculum which they’re confused as to why, I still haven’t had sex so idk if this is just a them issue or me in general.
Since this diagnosis and being treated I told a friend and they thought “what if they used that speculum on someone prior and I got whatever they had too.” I feel disgusting and unsure if I had this the entire time without knowing. I went back for a biopsy due to my pap coming back irregular and I thought I was called so I went into the room with a nurse and they proceed to read off to me results that belonged to another woman with a similar name. (This may have been a simple mistake but this lady had herpes among other stuff and didn’t verify other info like they usually do prior to discussing stuff) so I feel that this clinic has become neglectful. Im unsure what to do and really needed to get this off my chest I feel it’s way too late for me to mention something to them or just be like okay and pray the hpv infection clears on its own.
I’m very safe when it comes to sex and the partners I did have (2 years prior to my bf now)showed me recent results that were clean and my current boyfriend whom I last had sex with a year prior to this exam and he had also been tested and was clean and had no sex in over 4 years. So imagine me telling my boyfriend how I’ve contracted all this stuff and he’s looking at me like 👀 what you been doing. As a precaution I told him to get treated which his doctor just went ahead and prescribed him meds and has him on a trial of a shot a month for hpv for 3 months which is coming up on the final one.
Sorry this is so long just feel like there’s a lot for me to say.
TLDR; I’m afraid my gyno gave me STIs and hpv due to an already open speculum and I’m unsure and afraid on how to take it.
