A few years ago in 2020 I was in the hospital for an unrelated medical issue and during that time the doctors discovered through a CT scan that I had an ovarian teratoma on my left ovary. I have since gotten referred to a gynae and had the cyst monitored for awhile with the last ultrasound showing that it was around 6cm in size. This was back in 2023 though and I know I should be monitoring it frequently afterwards but I haven't gone back due to financial issues.
Lately, however, I feel like I could "feel" the cyst internally in certain positions. It is not new, I have "felt" it before (like some kind of ache or a weight there) but these days I feel it more. I have made an appointment to go back to the gynae as I'm worried it might have grown a lot in size over two years unmonitored. And I am also considering just getting the surgery to remove the cyst and be done with it.
But I have read stuff online about how some people's cysts came back after surgery and I'm worried that might happen to me. Has anyone here ever had a dermoid cyst removed and have it come back again? Also how is recovery like and how long did it take? I'm asking because I have an overseas trip planned a few months away and I want to know if I could get the surgery before or if I should delay it till after the trip.
