How long will I be wearing this horrible belly band (hernia repair and gall bladder removal)?

I am in heaven since having my 10+ year old hernia repaired and my gall bladder removed. The only negative has been the belly band that I have to wear. The one I got in the hospital was 12” high and way too large for my torso and too small for my size. I quickly got another one that I wear most of the day that is 6-8” high and it’s more comfortable. I wear the larger one at night when I’m not moving around so much.

I see my surgeon on Thursday Jan 2nd but until I can ask him does anyone know how long I might have to wear these cursed things? If you’ve had hernia surgery did you have to wear one and if so how long.
