For the past couple years or so, I'd get pain in the left side of my left breast around the time I would be ovulating. I've started to notice lately it's become more frequent. Within the past 3 or 4 months, I get the same pain while ovulating or just after. I brought it up to my doctor who ordered an ultrasound and they called me, saying there was "asymmetry" on that side. I got a call from the nurse saying it's most likely a shadow, but I'm just concerned because where they saw the asymmetry was on the left side. Now I'm waiting for my next mammogram appt. and I've been trying not to worry about it, but I kind of am. As far as I know, there's no cancer history in my family (I don't really know my father's side), but my mother has had several benign cysts, and my sister recently found out she has one. I don't feel any swelling, and when my doctor examined me she didn't feel anything either. Could this actually just be hormones? I should also add I'm 42, which I'm wondering maybe my age has something to do with it.
