Hey Reddit, I'm really hoping someone here might have some insight or advice because I'm at my wit's end. For the past three years, I've been dealing with increasingly debilitating pain in my lower right abdomen and pelvic area. I've been to the hospital countless times, and it's always the same story: they run some tests, find a small hemorrhagic cyst, and tell me it's "insignificant" and not the cause of my pain.
The pain itself is like nothing I've ever experienced. It's a mix of throbbing and sharp, stabbing sensations that radiate down my right thigh. It used to come in episodes that would last about a week, but now these episodes are constant, lasting for months on end. Some days it's a dull ache, but other days it's so intense that I can barely move or walk without crying. It's completely taken over my life. I can't focus in school, I've had to quit my extracurriculars, and I'm constantly canceling plans with friends because I'm in too much pain.
I've tried explaining to the doctors how much this is impacting my life, but they just don't seem to take me seriously. They keep saying the cyst is too small to be causing this much pain, but they don't offer any alternative explanations or solutions. I feel like I'm being dismissed because of my age and gender. Honestly, it feels like the Canadian healthcare system is failing me.
Has anyone else experienced something similar? Could this pain really be caused by a small cyst, or should I be pushing for more tests and a second opinion? I'm open to any suggestions or advice at this point. I just want my life back. Thanks in advance for reading.
